AT MANSHAUSEN ISLAND, located in Steigen area, Nordland county, the famous polar expeditioner Boerge Ousland, has buildt up a fantastic holiday and convention center. Activities for visitors goes from diving, kajakking and fishing to spectacular hiking tours in the surrounding mountain area. The glazing in the sea cabins (pictures) are made by structural glazing, and of course Sikasil engineering silicones. After being contacted by Lindahl design (project manager) autumn 2014, we decided to participate in the project. The turnover for Sika wasn’t the issue here, more the value of a high end solution and off course the marketing value of the project. Manshausen was fully booked before opening 24. June this year and has almost 6000 likes on Facebook. (pr.27.07.2015)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The glasses was two layer insulated glass units, secondary seal of course with Sikasil IG25HMplus, weighing aprox. 160 kilograms each! We did an “on site” training with the manufactorer, Vesper Homes lmt, from Czeck Republic. I can tell you that it was not an easy installation, manually carrying the heavy glasses and bond them to the profiles. They needed to be six guys for each glass, and I was expecting at least a couple of them falling in to the sea, but they did the job, without getting wet.
